A KIDNEY donor and the lucky recipient have organised a fundraising event in aid of the centre which helped them.

Andy Sheppard, 49, from Daventry donated one of his kidneys to his friend of more than 20 years Paul Hornberger, 52, also from Daventry last year.

And following on from the successful transplant the pair, who both work at Ford in the town, are now looking to fundraise in aid of the kidney renal centre, in Northampton, which helped Mr Hornberger with treatment.

The pair are part of the Ford Charity Committee which is organising the fundraising night on Friday, September 21 at Daventry Working Men’s Club.

Among the entertainment will be a disco, a cabaret show from Ford employees and performances from local musicians and dance groups.

The night starts at 7pm and tickets cost £3 for adults and £1.50 for children. They can be bought in advance by calling 01327 305119 or email
