LONG Buckby took the early initiative in their home match against Sutton Coldfield.

Buckby worked hard, dominating the Sutton circle, with Kit Seymour, Sharron Evans and Becky Askew all having chances on goal.

Long Buckby’s midfield, led by Lou Dickson, marked down the Sutton attacks, and any breaks by Sutton were easily dealt with by full-backs Katherine Eames and Lynn Windatt.

The Long Buckby goalie, Chelsea Evans, controlled the defence, easily kicking clear the few chances Sutton had.

With the score 0-0 at half-time, Long Buckby came out determined not to let three points slip by.

Soon Sharron Evans weaved her way into the Sutton circle, drawing the defence before passing back to Millie Entwhistle, who was able to sweep in a goal.

Buckby dominated play, but good defence work by Sutton frustrated any further Buckby goal opportunities.

Any breaks by Sutton were quickly extinguished by strong tackling, resulting in Buckby maintaining a clean sheet.

This was another well-earned victory for the Buckby outfit.

n Long Buckby are continuing to recruit new players.
