Pre-production work has begun on a short film based on a novel written by an author from Daventry.

Jackie Walsh’s book called The Silent Scream is to be turned into the film with the current working title of The Place of No Return.

The book was the second she has published and she never expected to have it published.

The author, who lives on The Witham on the Grange estate, said: “I was trying to get word out there about the book and was on Facebook and had a like from this chap called Roger Ellis.

“He then messaged me earlier this year and said he would like to turn the book into a short film to be about 20 to 25 minutes. He thought it was something that could really work as a short film.

“It is not something that will be available in the local Odeon but when it is finished, he will take it around the UK circuit and see what interest he can get in it.”

Filming on the supernatural thriller is expected to start in the new year with the production team currently trying to find locations.

Her first book was called Revenge and was published in 2011 with The Silent Scream published the following year. Her third novel, With Evil Intent was released last year.

She added: “They are all supernatural thrillers because that is the genre that I am really interested in.

“The books are now being carried by the libraries in the county and people can also find buy copies of the book by going online to Amazon or Waterstones.

“I didn’t expect anything at all like this to happen when I was on Facebook. I thought I would just be promoting the book.

“It is very exciting to have my work turned into a film. I can’t wait to see the end result.”
