Northamptonshire’s air ambulance urgently needs volunteers to help with their collection week.

The Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) is urging supporters to give an hour this September, with volunteer numbers for its first ever Air Ambulance Week collections needing an urgent boost.

Just 78 of the 276 volunteering opportunities the charity has in Northamptonshire have been filled.

From September 21 to 26 the WNAA wants supporters to take to the streets with boxes of bright yellow pin badges in support of their service. The service is raising money and awareness of its vital services, which help rescue almost 1,000 people every year.

Long-term supporters Heather Burton and Richard Durham have been volunteering for over two years, and know just how vital it is to help keep their local air ambulance service flying.

Heather said: “WNAA has been operating for just 12 years, and in that time they’ve flown almost 16,000 missions to people in desperate need of help. Fundraising for them is not only great fun – it also might help save someone’s life. If you or anyone in your family can give just an hour or two, you could be making sure that this vital service can go out on its next flight.”

This year alone, WNAA has been out to over 170 different missions in Northamptonshire.
