A Northampton charity that supports the homeless has been given a donation of £5,000 from the Amazon fulfilment centre team in Daventry.

The donation was made after an employee at Amazon in Coventry nominated Mayday Trust to benefit from a special Covid-19 initiative as part of Amazon's programme to support the communities around its UK operating locations.

The employee who nominated Mayday Trust, Trevor White, said: "Mayday Trust is a charity close to my heart and I am pleased that it has been chosen to receive this donation from Amazon. I hope the donation gives the people a boost during what continues to be a challenging year.”

Northampton charity, Mayday Trust, received a £5,000 donation from Amazon in Daventry.

Mayday Trust offers people going through tough times the opportunity to focus on their strengths and abilities so that they can explore their passions. They believe that, by offering this support, people are more likely to live well within their communities and live a life that works for them.

Director of development at Mayday Trust, Lynn Mumford, said: "“Covid-19 has highlighted how important it is to listen to the people we work with to make sure we respond in the right way for each individual.

"Amazon’s support is hugely appreciated and will allow us to continue to offer much needed personalised support for people within our community. Thank you to Trevor, Gareth and the rest of the team in Daventry for this donation.”

Amazon previously teamed up with charity, Magic Breakfast, to help deliver more than three and a half million healthy breakfasts to disadvantaged children around the UK. The company has also provided students with free online STEM resources and provided free resources to virtual classrooms.

Site leader at Amazon Daventry, Gareth Davies, said: "We’re proud to support organisations that are making a real difference in our community like Mayday Trust. Its staff and volunteers have been a great support to people in Northampton during COVID-19 and we want to lend a helping hand with this donation.”
