A housing association is seeking nominations for its third annual Star Awards event.
The winners at the Daventry and District Housing (DDH) event will be announced at a special ceremony at Daventry Court Hotel on Wednesday, December 10.
The awards, which are also supported by DDH’s partner organisations, acknowledge the work of unsung heroes and community projects by recognising the exceptional contribution of local residents within the Daventry district. The event, which was first launched in 2012, features six categories that will highlight the achievements of young people, volunteers and good neighbours and also crown the DDH Tenant of the Year.
The top three nominees in each category will be shortlisted as finalists and will be invited to attend the star-studded awards ceremony.
A panel of judges made up of representatives from DDH, Lovell, the Daventry Express, Cummins, the Daventry Volunteer Centre, Daventry District Council and, representing Daventry Town Council, the Mayor of Daventry Cllr Ron Fox, will select the winners. Jamie Over, winner of the 2013 Volunteer of the Year Award, said: “I was really honoured to have won.
“I am always happy to help people in my community.
“I don’t expect any reward, but it is nice to know that my actions haven’t gone unnoticed.
“Winning a Star Award has opened up a lot of opportunities for me and increased my chances of getting the job I want.”
Deadline for nominations is Friday October 10.
