The headteacher and pupils from Weedon Bec Primary School officially opened the new Tesco Express store in the village.

Antony Witheyman and the children cut the ribbon on the new store on Friday last week.

As part of the opening celebrations, store manager, Sally Mellows and her team presented Antony with a cheque for £500. The store chose to donate to Weedon Bec Primary School as part of its commitment to supporting the local community.

The school will use the donation towards a ‘Story Factory Workshop’, encouraging the children to use their imaginations to develop their own stories and characters, improving their confidence and creativity.

Tesco Express store manager, Sally said: “We are delighted to be able to support the staff and children at Weedon Bec Primary School. We are so pleased that Mr Witheyman and the children came to open the new store and join in the celebrations with us.”

Antony said: “I would like to thank Tesco for this generous donation. It’s commendable that Tesco is reaching out to the local school and contributing towards the local community. All the children really enjoyed the launch and felt very special being allowed to officially open the store. This donation will help us to continue providing new, stimulating and enjoyable school experiences for our pupils.”
