A NEW management firm for Daventry Leisure Centre is set to be recommended tonight (Thursday).
Daventry District Council is set to resolve to sign a contract to hand over the management of the town’s leisure centre to a firm called SLM which already runs a series of leisure centres.
The centre is owned by Daventry District Council, but is run by a board of volunteers and local industry professionals under the name Daventry Active.
The centre has received significant financial support from the council in recent years as the board has tried to balance the books.
Previously the leisure centre was run by Sol which pulled out after it failed financially.
Full details of the new deal, any costs to taxpayers and any potential changes or improvements at the centre have yet to be released by the district council.
