Councillor Chris Long has become the new chairman of Daventry District Council after being sworn in at the annual council meeting on May 15.
Councillor Long has served the past 12 months as vice-chairman and received the chains of office from outgoing chairman Diana Osborne at the meeting.
The 63-year-old has decided to support the Friends of Danetre Hospital as the official Chairman’s Charity during his year in office.
Cllr Long said: “I regard becoming chairman of DDDC as a great honour and it will provide me a wonderful opportunity to promote the benefits of the whole district to the wider world.
“During my four years as a county councillor I made many new friends across the county and beyond so I will be seeking to work with these contacts, amongst others, during my term as chairman to promote the depth of resources that Daventry has to offer.”
Cllr Liz Wiig was also sworn in as vice-chairman at the meeting.
Anyone who would like to invite the chairman to attend any events held by local organisations or community groups can contact the chairman’s secretary on 01327 871100 or email email@example.com.
