There was some musical entertainment in Long Buckby on Saturday to raise money for the village’s recreation ground.
Robert Pring – Long Buckby’s own ‘Harmonica Man’ – took time off from his normal charitable role as a presenter on Milton Keynes Hospital Radio to raise funds for the Long Buckby Children’s Recreation Ground.
Robert braved the cold and the wet for several hours entertaining passing shoppers near the Peephole in the village centre with a wide selection of tunes.
Clearly his audience enjoyed the music as during the day he raised £89.
The recreation ground, which is a self-funding charity, is urgently collecting for new roundabout to replace the old one which, after more than 20 years’ service, is now beyond economical repair.
Committee chairman, Rick Vivian said: “This is a wonderful result, even better than we could have hoped for.
“We are immensely grateful to Robert and to the generous people who have made donations.”
