Daventry Music Centre (DMC) continues to bring music to the town and further afield this summer.
Following performances at the Regional Music For Youth festival at Northampton School for Boys earlier this spring, DMC Jazz and DMC Woodwind Ensemble have both been invited to take part in the National Music for Youth festival in Birmingham, next month.
Closer to home, the centre’s summer concerts will take place at the Danetre School in Daventry on June 25.
The junior concert takes place at 11am, with a cake raffle and a performance by Rock School at 11am, followed by the concert featuring all the junior groups from 11.30am to 12.30pm.
The senior concert takes place at Holy Cross Church from 6pm, with performances by DMC Jazz, Woodwind ensemble and the Brass Band. The event will also be part of the Daventry Arts Festival.
Added to that, the DMC Brass Band will also play at Weedon church fete from 1pm to 3pm on Sunday, June 19, and at Eydon fete from 11.30am to 3.30pm on September 4.
The final session of the centre’s summer term will be Saturday July 2, with a programme of musical activities planned for members.
Daventry Music Centre, part of the Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust, takes place at Danetre & Southbrook Learning Village in Hawke Road, Southbrook Estate, from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Saturday mornings during term time.
There are junior and senior orchestras, jazz and wind bands, choirs, a brass group, three string orchestras, drama and dance groups, chamber music, percussion groups, guitar ensembles, musical activities for early years age groups and more.
