Motocross rider airlifted to major trauma centre after crashing into tree at Northamptonshire event

A bike rider was airlifted to hospital after a crash during a motocross event in Northamptonshire.

The accident happened at Shuckburgh Hill in Park Lane, Daventry, shortly after 12.20pm and West Midlands Ambulance Service sent a community paramedic and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find a motocross rider who had collided with a tree.

“The man, believed to be in his 50s, was treated by ambulance staff for a head injury suffered in the incident. He remained conscious throughout but was also treated for some breathing difficulties he was experiencing.

“He was then airlifted to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further treatment. The hospital had been alerted to the man’s condition prior to his arrival.”
