Member of the public discovers body of Northamptonshire man in sea off Cornish coast

The body of a Northamptonshire man was discovered by a member of the public in the seas off a beach in Cornwall.

The identity of the man, aged in his 60s, has not yet been confirmed by Devon and Cornwall Police.

The body was discovered at Perranuthnoe Beach near Penzance on Saturday July 11.

A police spokesman said: “The man was recovered from the water and declared deceased at the scene.

“He was taken to Treliske Hospital by Sea King helicopter.

“Coastguard, Lifeboat and ambulance were also in attendance.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious but police enquiries continue to establish how the man came to be in the water.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner in due course,” a spokesman said.
