NOSTALGIA was central to a celebration at one of the town’s traditional May Day events on Sunday.

Around a hundred people – who were in their final year at the Abbey School in the 1950s and 60s – gathered to mark the annual celebrations held in the town’s Market Square.

The event, brought together old friends from as far away as Paris.

May Queens were once again crowned using the original crown made by George Sharpe, now refurbished by his daughter Carol Stimpson.
