Man dies in crash on A5 near Daventry

A 51-year-old man has died following a road traffic collision on the A5 early this morning.

The collision took place at about 4.25am close to Watford village and involved a grey Mercedes Vito being driven by a 51-year-old man and a yellow Scania HGV, being driven by a 62-year-old man.

The driver of the Mercedes sadly died at the scene.

Police, paramedics and the fire service attended the scene and the road re-opened at 10.30am.
