A cherished teddy was reunited with his owner in time for Christmas – but only after enjoying an extended stay at a Weedon hotel!
William Whiskers was left at the Premier Inn in Weedon by his owner three-year-old Seth Taylor, from Shipley, West Yorkshire.
But, while at the hotel the soft toy made himself useful and helped with tasks including serving breakfasts, housekeeping, and was even trained on reception.
Seth, his parents Sharon and Andy, plus his sister Sara, had stayed in a family room at the hotel, but after leaving they realised the fluffy toy had been left behind by mistake.
Mrs Taylor said: “When we realised we had left William Whiskers behind we phoned the hotel in the hope we could get him back.
“A few days later they called to say staff had found the toy and would send him back.”
When William arrived back at home the family were surprised to find a note with him detailing all the adventures he had been up to while on his extended stay at the hotel; although he had to do some work to earn his keep!
There were photos of William working behind the bar, helping out at breakfast time and serving the coffees, and getting trained to work on reception.
He also read to children from the hotel’s library, and helped the housekeeping team tidy up the bedrooms.
Simon Harrison, manager at the hotel, told the family: “William has been very busy helping us.
“He helped on reception, checking in guests. Our receptionist said he is the best cat she ever trained and would miss him when he was gone!”
A spokesman for Premier Inn said: “Whiskers meant a lot to one little boy, so we are thrilled that the team ensured he was back in the arms of his owner in time for Christmas – after taking an adventure or two, of course.”
Seth got William Whiskers, a ginger cat who wears a green scarf, around the time of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding, and named him after the royal bridegroom. She said: “There are a lot of memories attached to him.
“It was so cute. They went above and beyond what they needed to do and Seth was thrilled. He had Whiskers back in time for Christmas.”
