Lorry driver attacked in Weedon

A lorry driver was assaulted after parking his vehicle in Weedon.

Between 3.45pm and 4pm on Thursday May 21 a lorry driver was making a delivery in Queen Street in the village. After parking his lorry, he was verbally abused by a passing motorist.

The motorist then got out of his car and punched the lorry driver, causing him to fall. He further assaulted the victim while he was on the floor, before getting back in his vehicle and driving away.

The offender is described as a white man, in his mid-30s, with short, dark hair. He was wearing a maroon striped jumper and trainers.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the assault to contact them. They are particularly keen to speak to a female motorist who stopped to check on the victim.

Witnesses, or anyone with any information, are asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101.

Alternatively, they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or use the anonymous online form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
