AN UP-AND-COMING R&B music star entertained pupils at a Daventry school with a small concert.

William Parker School in Ashby Road was one of just 10 across the country visited by Loick Essien as part of the singer’s mini-tour.

The 20-year-old singer, who has worked on videos with Dappy from N-Dubz, treated pupils at the school to a live performance of two of his tracks - Love Drunk, which was released back in September, and Stuttering, which is about to be released.

He performed to pupils from the school at Daventry Community Centre, which is also in Ashby Road, at the end of last month.

Lynne Joyce, head of Year 10 at the school, said: “More than 200 Year 10 students were given the opportunity to see up-and-coming pop star Loick Essein perform.

“He was an inspiration, explaining that he worked hard at school, gaining good GCSE grades, and this gave him the opportunity to go to music college.

“His performance was very professional and uplifting.”
