A SIX-YEAR-OLD girl has been catching up with her reading and raising money for charity at the same time.
Kyra Johnson, who lives on The Medway on the Grange estate, Daventry, is pledging to read 50 books before Friday, November 18.
It was an idea which she came up with herself because she wanted to raise money for Children in Need.
Her mother Rebecca said: “She watched a programme about Children in Need and she was so upset by what these children went through that she initially wanted to give away all of her books.
“However, she came up with this idea to try and raise the money because she loves reading. She’s been getting into it and has even started reading to her little brother.”
Kyra, who started reading the books on October 17, was aiming to raise a target total of £100.
Mrs Johnson added: “At the most recent count we have raised £384 which is a fantastic achievement.
“She is such a sweet little girl and she always thinks about others rather than herself.”
