Jungle day raises funds for charity

A fundraising event held at the Halifax in Daventry on Friday last week has raised nearly £1,000 for charity.

The event was organised by Gail Purves from Daventry and saw a raffle, cupcakes for sale, a guess the sweets jar and balloon modelling for children.

A total of £480.20 was raised on the day and Halifax will match that sum. The money will be donated to the Brain Research Trust. Mrs Purves said: “It was a really good day at Halifax. I was not expecting to raise that much money, so I was really delighted for the total.”

Mrs Purves is raising funds to help her teenage sister Angela, who suffered a stroke.

She will also do a 10-day kayak and trek through Thailand to raise funds. For more or to donate visit www.justgiving.com/Gail-Purves-BRT/
