Job and apprenticeships fair for young people in Daventry

Connexions will be holding seven Apprenticeship and Job Fairs across the county to help match young people with local employment and training opportunities.

This year’s Apprenticeship and Job Fairs incorporate two Small Skills Show Experience events and will take place between the end of February and early April to complement the National Apprenticeship Week and National Careers Week.

The events will be held:

Daventry Fair - Daventry Leisure Centre Thursday February 27

Wellingborough Fair - Tithe Barn Tuesday March 4

Northampton Fair and Skills Show - The Guildhall Thursday March 6

Kettering Fair - Corn Market Hall Tuesday March 11

Corby Fair and Skills Show - Corby Cube Tuesday March 18

East Northants Fair - Pemberton Centre Monday March 24

South Northants Fair - Towcester Town Hall Wednesday April 2

The events are aimed at 16-25 year olds including this year’s school and college leavers and young people currently unemployed and looking for work or training.

The events provide a unique opportunity to visit career stands and talk to employers, training providers and colleges about their opportunities all in one place. Young people can also take part in a series of brief three-minute interviews with our Speed Networking at some events.

Connexions advisers will also be available to provide impartial advice and guidance.

eena Mistry, event organiser, said: “These events are a perfect chance to get first-hand information and speak to local representatives and employers about the career opportunities they offer.

“We encourage young people and their parents or carers to come along to get advice and guidance about career options.”

The events are organised by Connexions Northamptonshire with funding from the Northamptonshire Leadership Group. John Markham OBE, chair of the Leadership Group said: “It’s crucial that young people in Northamptonshire have the opportunity to develop long-term, successful careers. Encouraging apprenticeships and job opportunities is a key priority for the Leadership Group and we’re pleased to be supporting these important events.”
