People in Daventry can have a knockout time and help Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation at the same time.

Tesco Daventry Grocery Distribution Centre is holding an It’s a Knockout tournament based on the famous 1970s game show. The event will take place at Daventry Rugby Football Club on Western Avenue on Sunday, June 14, as part of their Charity Summer Bonanza.

Sarah Pearson, personnel clerk for Tesco, is helping to organise the event.

She said: “Last year’s event was an amazing success raising almost 13k for Diabetes UK and this year with Tesco’s new partnership between Diabetes UK & the British Heart Foundation we want to try and double that amount.”

We’ve plenty of other attractions throughout the day promising it to be a great day out for teams, their family and the local community too.”

The mayor of Daventry will be officially opening the event at 11am.

Featuring 12 different challenges, it promises all the “giggles and gunge” associated with the much loved game show and organisers hope it will raise £15,000 for Diabetes UK and British Heart Foundation.

Teams of between six and ten people are encouraged to wear fancy dress or teams colours. Prizes on offer to the winners include trophies and a cash prize of £500.

Gates open from 11am to 6pm and entry is free.
