WITH street lights being turned off at locations across the Daventry area people are worried the move could lead to more crime and accidents.
The Daventry Express wants to hear from as many people as possible about their thoughts on the big switch-off.
Northamptonshire County Council is switching off around 50 per cent of its street lights to save money and several areas of Daventry, along with main roads in the district, have already seen the effects.
The council says it is trying to avoid switching off lights in areas with antisocial behaviour, high crime, accident black spots, or where walkers may fall over or otherwise hurt themselves.
But many readers have already got in touch highlighting concerns over the areas left in the dark by the move citing subways and park paths left in the dark, dangerous junctions left unlit, and zebra crossings where drivers can no longer see pedestrians waiting to cross the road.
We want to hear from even more people so we can put it all the information onto an online map.
Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with your thoughts, concerns or problems, and as much detail as possible about the locations any lights switched off (or on) that you believe should be looked at again by NCC.
