Volunteers help health centre

VOLUNTEERS joined forces to help spruce up a charity gym and physiotherapy centre.

Reach for Health, based on the High March, is a charity which offers monitored physiotherapy and exercise to people who may be recovering from illness or stroke, trying to lose weight, or just generally trying to improve their lives.

Centre manager Wadge Grzelak said: “It started off when one of our visitors, who works for NatWest, asked if some volunteers from the bank could come in and do some work.

“When they came in we thought it would be a good idea to see if we could do a volunteer day.”

The centre put signs up asking for people to lend a hand and on Thursday last week 15 people arrived to help with painting and general maintenance.

Mr Grzelak said: “We needed work doing in the exercise room and the changing rooms, so we thought we would just ask to see if anyone would spend some time helping us.

“We started at 7.30 in the morning and finished at around the same time in the evening.

“I’d have to say a huge thanks to all the volunteers and staff involved

“It was one of those occasions when you witness people giving a great deal.”
