Have a say on rail line

A CONSULTATION will take place for people to have their say on the controversial HS2 plans.

The proposals for a high-speed rail link between London and Birmingham will cut through villages in the Daventry area.

A consultation will take place at Chipping Warden Village Hall on Tuesday, May 24 from 8am to 8pm. Another will take place at Boddington Village Hall the following day at the same times.

HS2 Ltd, who are behind the plans, say residents can talk to experts, such as engineers, environmentalists and property specialists from HS2 Ltd and the Department for Transport, who will explain the proposals in detail and the potential effects on the area.

Chairman of South Northamptonshire Action Group against HS2 David Edwards said: “We are concerned this exercise being called a consultation is just a con. Other pressure groups along the line have been reporting that the roadshows are just full of spin and misrepresent key facts, particularly on noise where they are giving average noise levels, which are obviously highly misleading.” The material will be available at highspeedrail.dft.gov.uk.
