The school was awarded ‘Outstanding’ in every aspect of early years education.

Inspectors said it was “an exceptional setting”, where children make “rapid progress” due to “consistently high levels of teaching” and the “highly qualified staff who are passionate about what they do”.

Staff are particularly thrilled with the comments the inspector made about the quality of communication and interaction within the setting.

Guilsborough Pre-school, which is next to Guilsborough Primary School in the centre of Guilsborough village, opened in 1967.

This is the first time it has been graded ‘Outstanding’ in an inspection.

Manager Dawn Greenfield said: “We are so proud to have achieved outstanding in this inspection.

“We’ve worked so hard to make the pre-school a place where children can grow and be happy.

“Over the last two years we have made many changes. We’ve created a new outdoor area, and opened a sensory ‘discovery den’, however, it is the passion and creativity that the staff have for early years learning that has been key, and it has shone through in this inspection.”

The inspector said that the children are “excited and enthusiastic to play and explore, and are fully active and involved in their learning”.
