A VILLAGE primary school has been given a prestigious environmental award.
Barby Primary School has got the eco schools green flag award for the third successive year for their commitment to making the planet a little bit greener.
The school’s business manager Joanne Campbell said: “It is important to teach kids about their role in the environment. They are the next generation and it is very important that we teach them for the future of the planet.”
The green flag has been given for working with the local community, encouraging them to recycle and use eco-friendly materials. The children also make sure lights are switched off when they are not in use.
Mrs Campbell added: “All of the children, not just those on the eco-committee, have worked hard to help the school get this award so they all deserve credit.
“We are really happy that all the effort has resulted in this.”
