A secondary school in the Daventry district has been praised by the government inspectors Ofsted.

Guilsborough School was given a good grade by Ofsted in a report published earlier this week. While it has gone down from the outstanding it was judged as previously, the headteacher was left delighted with the verdict.

Christine Staley said: “We are really pleased with the main body of the report, which makes it clear that Guilsborough is an excellent school which has a strong, supportive, positive ethos for every child.

“This is reflected in the very positive student behaviour and the overwhelmingly positive views expressed by parents to Ofsted.

“We thank staff and students for all their hard work and commitment to the school, however we would also like to thank our parents for their overwhelming support, shown in their response to Ofsted.

“We know Ofsted requirements are going to change again over the next few months and we will continue striving for excellence in the best interests of all our students.”

The inspection came after a complaint to Ofsted which raised concerns but were found later to have no basis. Mrs Staley would not comment on this but did say she was happy Ofsted saw no need for improvement.

She added: “The team inspected safeguarding very rigorously and found all the school practices to be excellent, with no recommendations for improvement.”
