Daventry's branch of Diabetes UK has received a cheque for more than £1,000 from the proceeds of golf competitions held at Kilworth Springs.

The money was raised by Kilworth’s outgoing seniors section captain Alan Saunders, who lives in Yelvertoft.

Among the beneficiaries of the £1,021.15 donation will be diabetes research programmes and children with types 1 and 2 diabetes who live in the Daventry area.

The Daventry branch has given £1,000 to Kings College, London, to assist with research into possible links between diabetes and dementia.

The golf money will help to finance an instructive day out for diabetic children and their families. Kilworth’s Springs men’s and ladies’ sections also handed over £2,000 for Cancer Research UK.
