Going ‘wild’ to help boost Jago funds

Two friends are gearing up for a tough physical fundraising challenge in aid of little Jago Worrall.

Sue Peabody, who lives next door to the Worrall family in Welton, and Alex Meek, from Lang Farm, Daventry will be embarking on the Winter Wild Wolf Run for The Jago Worrall Foundation.

The 10k run will put the pair through their paces with obstacles, water, mud, nets and a variety of other challenge s.

The Foundation was set up after two-year-old Jago nearly drowned in an accident at the family home last year, leaving him severely brain-damaged.

It is raising funds for his on-going round-the-clock treatment and work to adapt his home.

The Run, on Sunday, November 3, takes place at Stamford Hall in Leicestershire.

Mrs Peabody said: “I vowed at the start of the year that I was going to do a charity event for Jago and then this opportunity came along.

“These type of events are normally held in the summer but this is the first one to be held in the winter.

“I have been telling people that it is a little like It’s A Knockout, the TV show in that we will be going through woodland and marshland.”

They are both looking forward to the challenge.

Mrs Meek said: “We have seen a lot of the videos which are available on YouTube for the wolf runs and it looks like a lot of fun.

“I think when we do the run, we will spend a lot of the time laughing and giggling our way through it.

“But it is the sort of event where people help each other out rather than try to be particularly competitive.

“We have only been doing the training for a few weeks but it is going well. We are all going away, with both of our families together before the event, so will be getting lots of extra training in then.”

And the pair hope to raise as much money for the charity as possible.

Mrs Peabody said: “When we set up the Just giving page, we had a target of £400, but we will be happy with any amount we can raise.

“We both know the money will be going to a fantastic and very worthwhile cause.”
