VILLAGERS tried their hand at bell ringing at two village churches on Saturday.
St John’s Church in Hellidon and St Mary The Virgin in Staverton both welcomed the public to come along and have a go at ringing the bells.
The event was arranged by The Peterborough Diocesan Guild of Church Bell Ringers.
Rev Elizabeth Cowley said: “There were lots of bell ringers from local churches who came along.
“It’s something that the bellringing guild do on a regular basis.
“We also had a few new people come along which was nice to see.
“Villagers enjoy the bells being rung, and Staverton apparently has one of the best ring of bells in the county.
“We are looking for more bell ringers to come forward and anyone interested can come to Hellidon on Tuesday mornings and Staverton on Thursday evenings.”
