Get signed up for county's biggest tennis tournament in Long Buckby

We are weeks away from the biggest grass court tennis tournament in Northamptonshire.

This year’s Long Buckby Tennis Tournament is being held on the sportsfield in Long Buckby on the weekend of July 2 and 3.

A chance to dust off the tennis shoes and find the racket for those of you who are occasional players and time for some serious training for those who are challenging for the honours.

The tournament organisers are especially keen to welcome players who have never played at the event before.

This year the event marks its 109th year.

A spokesman said: “We believe we have a unique tennis experience that can be applied to both the occasional player and the regular club player.

“It is a friendly but competitive doubles competition in all formats, mens and ladies doubles on the Saturday and mixed, veterans mixed, junior doubles (15 or under) and mini singles (for those of 10 and under) on the Sunday.

“It is truly a family day out as all members can play tennis in one of the sections available and we particularly looking to encourage youngsters to get involved in the mini singles.
