A village primary school has been raising funds for a good cause with two separate activities this week.

The pupils at Newnham Primary School have joined forces with Marie Curie charity to boost their coffers.

The youngsters have been growing daffodils in the pots of care fundraising.

Headteacher Kim Cresswell said: “The children measured the first shoots of their daffodils and then took them home to gather sponsors for each millimetre of growth.

“Not only did it bring a bring an opportunity for real life calculations in maths but we also raised money to donate to this worthy charitable cause.”

This was followed up on Monday when the children wore something yellow or bright to school.

Mrs Cresswell added “We hope that by wearing these bright colours and bringing their money, the pupils have helped brighten someone’s day who is receiving care from Marie Curie.”

A total of £696 was raised from both events and will help people with cancer. Pictured above are some of the children at the school who took part in the fundraising initiatives.
