The event is being held to raise money in the name of Sebastian Day, a seven-year-old from Milton Keynes taught by the sister of Rebecca Haskew of Classic Cutz.

Sebastian was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer – embryonic rhabdomyosarcoma – which formed a tumour in the orbit of his right eye.

He has undergone surgery and chemotherapy to shrink the cancer, and is next due to receive radiotherapy. However, conventional radiotherapy available in the UK would damage the nerves and other tissues near the cancer – a potential problem due to its location near his optic nerve and brain.

Instead the NHS is to fund proton beam therapy for Sebastian in Oklahoma, including travel and accommodation for his parents, but won’t cover the cost of them taking their younger child, incidental costs, nor the loss of earnings they will suffer while having to take three months’ unpaid leave from work.

The family are aiming to raise £10,000.

Classic Cutz will be splitting the money made from their charity event, with half going to the fund for Sebastian and the other half going to Clic Sargent, the child cancer trust.
