Funding boost for stroke support

FUNDING for stroke support services in Daventry has been secured for another year after councillors put forward some of their empowerment cash.

The Daventry Express reported last week that Northants County Council (NCC) has decided not to renew the funding it gives to the Stroke Association.

Despite that Ian Simpson, who runs the Daventry branch, said the town service will continue as long as it can to raise £2,000 a year.

Cllr Chris Long, who reprersents Daventry West on NCC and Cllr Robin Brown, who represents Braunston, have now both agreed to donate £1,000 each from their fund.

Cllr Long said: “Any person who is unfortunately affected by a stroke needs access to this support locally and we want to try to help with that.”
