Overnight several cars on a Daventry estate appear to have had their petrol caps tampered or left open, and in one case fuel was stolen.

Northamptonshire Police say they received a call a 6.14am today (Thursday May 28) from someone stating their car, parked in The Leam on the Grange estate, had been broken into and that some petrol had been stolen.

Then at 7.45am police received a call from another driver also in The Leam to say their car’s petrol cap had been opened during the night, but they did not know if any fuel had been taken. The same caller said several other cars parked along the road also had open fuel caps, but again could not say if any fuel had been taken.
