The former chairman of Daventry District Council (DDC) has donated more than £2,200 to the Help for Heroes charity.

Cllr Ann Carter has presented a cheque for £2,283 to Help for Heroes after raising the money through various fundraising activities during her role as chairman over the past 12 months.

Lora Lawman, local volunteer co-ordinator from Help for Heroes, collected the cheque on behalf of the charity and thanked Cllr Carter for her efforts.

Cllr Carter said: “I was delighted to be able present a cheque of over £2,200 to Help for Heroes, which is a charity that is close to my heart.

“I would like to put on record my thanks to everyone who has helped us to raise the money over the past year.

“I know that the money will be put to good use by the charity.”

Help for Heroes was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry in October 2007 out of a desire to help the wounded servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq.
