Also on Saturday will be Daventry’s annual Beaver, Cub, Scout and Explorer parade through the town centre.

The youngsters and leaders, along with the Mayor and other civic leaders will march from the Chaucer Way car park at 1.45pm up North Street, down High Street and up Sheaf Street to the New Street Rec where they will renew their vows.

Daventry Town Council has decorated the town to mark the event, and will be handing out flags to spectators along the route.

Prior to the parade children are invited to make their own crown at a special “Crown Craft” event being held at Daventry Library from 10am to 11.30am.

St George’s Day 2016 also marks a special anniversary as William Shakespeare died 400 years ago on April 23, 1616.
