Fireworks night set to go off with a bang

Thousands of people will be expected to go along to a free fireworks event being held in Daventry.

The town’s fireworks display will be held at Daventry and District Sports Club on Western Avenue on Saturday, November 1.

It has been organised by Daventry Town Council.

The display will be set to music and be supplied by Daventry from Amazing Fireworks, based at Station Road in the town centre.

Gates will be opened at 6pm with the display starting at 7.30pm.

There will also be hot and cold refreshments served and a licensed bar while, for children, there will be fairground rides.

It is the fourth year the event has been held and the second successive year it has been held at the sports club.

Last year’s event attracted more than 8,000 people. For further information about the event call the town council on 01327 301246.

The villages are also getting in on the act with Woodford Halse Social Club hosting a Firework and Halloween Extravaganza on the same night.

The event starts at 5pm and the event will raise funds for the village’s academy.

The fireworks start at 6pm with a family disco until 11pm.

There is also a fancy dress, hot food and drinks, a licensed bar and children rides in the park, weather permitting.

Entrance to the event is £10 for a family of two adults and two children, £4 for adults, £2 for children aged four and over and free for under fours.

On Tuesday, November 4, Everdon Hall will also host a fireworks display.

The gates at the hall in Little Everdon at 6pm, when the bonfire will be lit.

The display of fireworks starts at 7pm.

Meanwhile, one village is trying to save its fireworks display.

The people of Flore are looking to find a sponsor for the event which has run for the past 50 years.

A group called Save Flore Fireworks is hoping to put on this year’s event and carry on running it next year. Anyone who can help can email save or call 01327 220722.
