Fewer complaints against police

THE number of complaints against police officers and staff in Northamptonshire has fallen.

The figures, which cover the year from April 2010 to April 2011, show the number of formal complaints against Northamptonshire Police fell by 13 per cent in 2010/11, while the number of allegations against the force fell by 15 per cent.

The force also had 41 cases referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), resulting in two independent investigations being carried out.

In 2009/2010 the force received 599 complaints – an increase of 42 per cent on the year before that.
