A hot meal made a quick stop in Daventry on Wednesday last week as part of a 286-mile relay across the Midlands to mark the National Association of Care Catering (NACC) Week.
The meal arrived in the town from Peterborough and was received by La Patisserie in High Street, which offers a meals on wheels service to those who are referred to them. Jane Coleman from the NACC said: “It’s to raise the profile and show how needed this service is.
“It’s not just a nutritional need for people, but meals on wheels serves a social need as well, providing contact for people who might otherwise go days without seeing someone. However, it’s a service that is slowly disappearing across the Midlands.
