YOUNGSTERS enjoyed a day in the sun, pond-dipping at Daventry Country Park.
The event was organised as part of National Insect Week by community projects officer at Daventry District Council Julie Partridge. She said: “About 50 children joined in the fun and the weather was excellent throughout.”
Children were given nets and trays and allowed to see for themselves what creepy crawlies call the pond home. Frogs, newts and insects like water boatman are all commonly found in freshwater ponds.
Julie said: “We received positive feedback from families who thought it was an ideal way of mixing fun with education to celebrate National Insect Week.”
The week was organised to help improve knowledge of the diverse world of insects.
