Long stretch of A5 in Northamptonshire remains closed following serious collision with one person in hospital

The closure of the A5 in Northamptonshire is expected to remain in place for ‘several hours’ following a serious collision.
Northamptonshire Police were called to the scene at 10.50am where two vehicles were involved in a serious collision at the Watford Gap crossroads.
The force told the Chron: “One person has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
“Motorists are advised to avoid the area for the time being.” The road was initially closed in both directions between the Grand Union Canal and Watford Locks.
However later in the day the closure was extended and the route is now shut between the A361 (Kilsby) and the A45 (Weedon Bec) while collision investigations continue. National Highways said: “Collision investigations are ongoing. The closures are expected to remain in place for several hours.”
Diversions are in place.
