A HARVEST-themed project took on a life of its own at three Daventry schools.
Youngsters at the Danetre and Southbrook Learning Village Infant and Nursery School were taking part in a challenge to create a series of scarecrows from straw.
This saw the infant school making scarecrows as part of their activities and was combined with an open day on Friday which gave parents the chance to help out.
Headteacher Andrea Crellin said: “All of the children had a really wonderful time and they really enjoyed their parents helping them to make the scarecrows.
“We wanted to show the children about why we eat certain foods at certain times of year and why we celebrate a harvest.
“It is important for the children to know that food doesn’t just come from a supermarket.”
The scarecrows will be available for parents to see until tomorrow (Friday).
