PARENTS have been reassured that an email sent out this morning (Thursday) saying students have been denied a place at their preferred secondary school was a mistake.
The blunder, which is understood to have affected hundreds of families, saw an email sent out saying children had been unsuccessful in gaining a place at their preferred secondary school.
The county council has been forced to send out an urgent message, telling parents the email should be ignored and places are unaffected.
A statement posted on the Northamptonshire County Council website said: “If you applied for a secondary school place for September 2011 and have received an email dated 04/08/2011 please ignore this.
“The emails have been generated in error and your child’s allocated school place has not been affected. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
