Around 200 runners are expected to take to Daventry Country Park today (Saturday November 7) to celebrate the first anniversary of the town’s parkrun.

The first event took place on November 8 last year - and since that successful inaugural event, it has gone from strength to strength, with more than 1,200 parkrunners listing Daventry as their home run.

To celebrate its first birthday, Daventry parkrun is inviting anyone who would like to take park to join the 5k run - dressed in black tie (individual interpretations of the theme are welcome). Organisers are hoping to attract as many people as possible dressed for the occasion, although it is not compulsory.

Participants should turn up just before 9am. There is no charge to take part but runners must register in advance if they would like their time recorded, to obtain a barcode which they should bring with them to the run.

Before the run begins, there will be short awards ceremony for various achievements and afterwards, all participants are welcome to have coffee and cakes at Leisure Lakes Bikes.
