A gym in Daventry has been able to buy a specialised piece of equipment thanks to the fundraising efforts from a doctor in the town.

Dr Matthew Davies, from the Abbey House Medical Practice, did a bike ride from Lands End to John O’Groats to raise funds for Reach for Health back in September.

He raised £2,500 for the rehabilitation trust based on the High March in Daventry. The organisation has used the money to buy a piece of specialist hydraulic equipment called a therabalance which has cost £4,500 and will aid people in their rehabilitation. It encourages people to use muscles that they have not previously used.

Wadge Grzelak from the gym said: “It has been very useful to have this. The equipment has made a massive difference to people’s recovery.”
