A DIAMOND couple have celebrated three score years of marriage.
John and Lillian Huxtable, aged 83 and 80, married on September 6 1952, after meeting at Sunday School and attending youth club together.
Lillian said: “John did Boys Brigade for 20 years and I used to do it with him. I would do whatever was required, like driving the cars to help out.
“When I was 16 John said we would get engaged when I was 18. Then I believe he had some money given to him and so he decided to buy me a ring.
The pair have lived in Long Buckby for 13 years and have two children and four grandchildren of whom they are very proud.
They enjoy gardening together however recently John has been very ill and unable to get outside to enjoy his hobby.
Speaking about her diamond anniversary and the last 60 years Lillian said: “We have been very happy over the years and have always been very thoughtful and considerate of each other’s feelings.
“We have also shared and talked about almost everything.”
