Sixty inmates were involved in a demonstration at a prison in Onley.
The news was confirmed by the Ministry of Justice revealed the demonstration took place on Saturday at Rye Hill Prison.
The Ministry of Justice said: “There was a passive demonstration at HMP Rye Hill where around 60 offenders refused to return to their cells. This was peacefully resolved within a few hours.”
Chris Heaton-Harris, MP for Daventry, whose constituency includes HMP Rye Hill, said: “I have been to HMP Rye Hill a number of times and always been impressed by the conditions and controls they have in place and their excellent staff. I am pleased to hear these issues were resolved peacefully.”
It is believed to have lasted more than three hours.
