Deal done to rescue college bid

A DEAL has been done which has cleared the way for Daventry’s university technical college.

Representatives of Daventry District Council (DDC) and the Friends of Daventry Open Spaces (FODOS) have signed an agreement which resolves the problems over land earmarked for the college.

FODOS had applied for village green status for the old pitch and putt off Ashby Road in town, land needed for the new college. The application put the college, and £10 million of Government investment in danger.

Now a deal has been reached which should free up the land, allowing the college plans to move forward.
